  • JOB SUMMARY

    The Associate Designer, Small Leather Goods (SLG's) will be responsible for working on multiple categories, including, mini bags, belts, money and tech, pieces hats etc., by collaborating with design team and Senior Design Director in the creative process, development and through production. The ideal candidate must have previous experience in handbag design, experience in belts and hat design is a plus.


     

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work with the design team in creating elevated products for small leather goods categories

    • Assist with the creation of seasonal design boards and keeping them updated

    • Sketch both by hand and by adobe illustrator, create technical packages

    • Collect, track and ensure all information is compiled and easily accessible

    • Create thorough tech packs with sketches, complete construction details, and provide mock-ups if needed

    • Create and execute color cads using Photoshop and Illustrator

    • Prep samples and proto for review

    • Compile trend research and suggest designs in line with trends and Tory Burch brand

    • Bring creative ideas to the table and properly translate them into an aesthetic that clearly reflects and elevates the Tory Burch brand.

    • Demonstrate resourcefulness and apply creative thinking to issues in order to pro-actively present solutions

    • Balance creative thinking with commercial viability while always evolving the product

    • Maintain excellent partnerships and clear communication with internal cross-functional and external teams

    • Adhere to seasonal and time and action calendars, ensuring that category meets deadlines

    • Ability to work on multiple seasons at one time

    • Able to take direction from Design team and work quickly, efficiently and thoughtfully.

    EDUCATION & PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED

    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the handbags and small leather goods categories.

    • Bachelor’s degree in fashion design or related industry

    • High proficiency in Adobe illustrator and photoshop

    • Strong illustrator skills, sketching, cading and spec’ing experience

    • Must be able to build detailed and organized technical packages

    • Passionate about design and willing to learn and take on new challenges

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
