Position Overview

We are looking for a creative, persuasive, and perceptive Junior Copywriter to help guide voice and storytelling at Birchbox. The Junior Copywriter will write for all platforms and shape copy submissions from the Birchbox merchandising and marketing team members, as well as outside agencies and contractors. 

With a constant pulse on beauty casual, our Content & Creative team is focused on creative collaboration and capturing the stories and voices of the Birchbox community, including our customers, brand partners, and influencers. This role reports to the Director of Content & Community on this team.

The Junior Copywriter is responsible for maintaining the quality of Birchbox’s voice and building community, excitement, and trust through words. The right candidate is a skilled writer and editor who can see the big picture without missing the details. 

**Our office is based out of New York, NY. Due to COVID, our team is working remotely until further notice.**

Responsibilities

  • Produce and shape all copy across the site, video, social, email, and print

  • Pitch and write new stories for our online platform, The Mag

  • Work closely with the Director of Content and Creative to ideate and execute new storytelling initiatives

  • Evolve and uphold the Birchbox brand voice, inspiring our team and advocating for creative excellence

  • Partner with merchandising and marketing, both internal and external, to translate stories for our audience

  • Manage and top-edit outside contractors to support copy and storytelling as needed

  • Test and analyze the success of our copywriting efforts, using data to inform shifts in tone, length, and calls to action

Requirements

  • 3+ years related experience in writing/editorial roles

  • Agency, brand, or editorial experience is a must. Journalism or writing background is a plus.

  • Experience creating, managing and writing to a brand voice
