About the Virgil Abloh™ "Post-Modern" Scholarship Fund
Virgil Abloh was a multidisciplinary artist and visionary who focused on advancing equity and inclusivity across various creative fields. In July 2020, he launched the Virgil Abloh™ "Post-Modern" Scholarship Fund in partnership with the Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF), raising $1 million to support the next generation of Black leaders in the fashion industry. The fund provides scholarships to students of Black, African American, or African descent and offers access to critical career support services and mentorship. Abloh's vision for the fund goes beyond financial aid, aiming to create long-term opportunities and foster inclusivity in the fashion world in a commitment to helping the next generation succeed.
Position Summary:
The Fashion Scholarship Fund is looking for the Virgil Abloh™ "Post-Modern" Scholarship Fund (VAPM) Program Coordinator to join our organization. The Program Coordinator will report directly to the Head of the Virgil Abloh™ “Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund and Equity. The Program Coordinator will serve as a key administrative role and the main point of contact for Scholars, educators, and external partners, facilitating communication and ensuring the smooth execution of VAPM programs. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, highly organized, and able to manage various administrative tasks, all while fostering relationships with key stakeholders and educational partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as the main touchpoint for VAPM Scholars, educators, and external partners (FSF Member Schools, HBCUs, PBIs, PWIs), answering inquiries, providing information about the program, and offering support as needed.
Conduct touch base sessions with VAPM Scholars & Alumni to assess goals, needs, and career aspirations.
Manage consistent follow-ups with Scholars, Mentors, and Educators to maintain engagement and satisfaction.
Support educators and institutions with VAPM-related inquiries, acting as the bridge between the program and external educational bodies.
Assist in planning and executing VAPM program events, including virtual mentorship sessions, educational workshops, recruitment events, and networking opportunities. Ensure all logistics are in place (e.g., venue, speaker coordination, invitations, content).
Assist in pairing Scholars with appropriate Mentors based on career interests and tracking their engagement.
Work with the Equity Initiatives Manager to execute recruitment strategies aimed at attracting a diverse pool of candidates for the scholarship programs. Assist with direct outreach to potential candidates and educational institutions.
Prepare materials for newsletters, social media updates, and program communications to keep the VAPM community informed and engaged.
Maintaining and organizing the VAPM Alumni Program, Alumni networking events and career development workshops.
Assist in facilitating internships and full-time job opportunities for Scholars by coordinating with industry partners and tracking placements.
Manage calendars, set up meetings, and coordinate with external partners to schedule 1:1 meetings and educational sessions.
Maintain accurate records of Scholar progress, mentorship assignments, and external relationships through CRM and other tracking systems.
Track and analyze program data (e.g., Scholar feedback, recruitment metrics) to assist in developing strategies for improvement.
Desired Skills and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in program management, education, or a related field.
3-5+ years of experience in program management, DEI initiatives, or youth engagement, ideally within education or talent development sectors.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is required.
Experience working with CRM/Salesforce is a plus.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
A background in or familiarity with the fashion industry is required.
