    The Senior Technical Designer, Hardware for Handbags & SLG’s is the primary partner to the Design team in the successful creation, development and evolution of hardware across all categories and collections within Accessories. The key candidate for this role must understand and clearly demonstrate and achieve the creative intent through sophisticated and technical functionality.


     

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Creative Scope

    • Support Design with newness and innovation for hardware & trim.

    • Execute technical designs, translate design’s vision into a functional piece

    • Trouble shoot and provide technical guidance

    • Research hardware & trim concepts looking for new materials, functionality & trends

    • Meet with hardware and trim suppliers and present cards to Design

    • Talk through hardware designs and prototypes with designers

    • Drive and foster cross divisional logo usage, hardware & finish consistency

    • Create new finishes in partnership with Design

    Development Scope

    • Manage the Hardware Development Manager

    • Ensure the Development all new hardware for HB, SLG, Belts, Tech in accordance with Design’s direction

    • Drive toward supporting Corporate Goals & Supply Chain Goals (ie: fully support the new Operating Model and the implementation of the new PLM system)

    • Monitor the amount of development, partner with Design & Merchandising to remain below established KPI’s. Keep seasonal count and report monthly.

    • *KPI’s will be established (with cross-functional partners) and directly correlated to the needs of the business and the Merchandising line plan.

    • Strive to have hardware buy-ready by order placement date each season.

    • Attend Cross Functional Weekly meetings

    • Partner with TSR in Brooklyn on hardware developments as needed

    Key Partnerships: 

    • Partner very closely with the Design & Product Development

    • Partner with Merchandising, Production Planning, as needed

    • Foster partnerships with the Hardware Suppliers

    EDUCATION & PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED

    • BA/BS degree or equivalent life experience

    • Minimum 10 years in Hardware Design/ Technical Design Engineering

    • Experience with PLM (Centric), Rhino, or other Product Management system

    • Strong taste level

    • Strong organizational, interpersonal and negotiation skills

    • Strong math and collaborative skills

    • Able to work in a fluid, fast-paced, multi-channel environment
