Senior Director of Data

To meet our ambitious goals, we are looking for a leader to lead Glossier's Data Science, Analytics and Data/BI engineering.

Responsibilities 

At Glossier, data is a key driver in building differentiated customer experiences and in driving decision making for stakeholders across the organization. In this leadership role reporting to the CTO, you will build our vision and strategy for Data Science and Data infrastructure. You are driven, excited, and passionate about tackling difficult, ambiguous, high-impact problems that have never been solved before. Lastly, you will serve as a thought leader for the entire organization on data & analytics topics and will need to work with business and technology leaders across the company. 

You will lead a team of Data & ML Scientists, Data Analysts, BI and Data engineers. You will focus on solving problems in a broad set of areas such as Growth, Personalization, Pricing, Forecasting etc by leveraging predictive models, machine learning & econometrics. You will also build the data pipelines & platform to ensure high availability of data, aggregation, visualization and develop key business insights. The role requires medium to long term headcount planning and the ability to attract & develop top talent in data science and data engineering areas. 

Experience 

  • 8+ years of experience in business intelligence, big data analytics, statistical methods and machine learning techniques including expertise in creating machine learning solutions that provide solutions to business and technical problems

  • Experience with multiple Data Science disciplines including descriptive analytics, optimization, probability, hypothesis testing, regression, forecasting and machine learning

  • Self-sufficiency in data analysis (such as R, Python)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven ability to harmonize discordant views, strong executive presence

  • Demonstrated ability to lead scientific teams that delivers data analytics and machine learning solutions (new scientific, analytical, or predictive models) to improve business outcomes

  • 4+ years of relevant experience managing science teams & managers. 

  • Able to guide the team to make the right scientific or technical trade-offs to meet long term/short-term business needs

  • (Preferred) PhD degree in Math, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
